Sweat Fixx Instructor Spotlight: Stephanie Hom

At Sweat Fixx, our instructors are the heart of our community, and Stephanie Hom brings incredible energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to every class she teaches. Based out of our Sweat Fixx Arlington studio, Stephanie leads Monday 5:30PM GRIT and 6:30PM ROW, where members know they’re in for a fun, challenging, and motivating workout. Her coaching style is supportive and approachable, helping members feel comfortable pushing themselves while still meeting their bodies where they’re at.
What caused you to want to join the SF team?
I had been taking group fitness classes for a while and always said I wanted to become an instructor, but I kept finding excuses not to take the leap. When I saw that Sweat Fixx was hiring, it felt like the right time and the right place—so I decided to go for it and give it a try!
Favorite class to teach/take and why?
My favorite class to teach and take is Grit. I love the station-based format because it gives you the flexibility to switch things up, and you’re constantly moving. I also really enjoy having the option to lift heavy. The possibilities are endless, and you’re always guaranteed a great workout!
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone new who is trying out SF for the first time?
My biggest piece of advice would be to go at your own pace and not be afraid to try something new. Everyone starts somewhere, and the workouts are designed to accommodate all fitness levels. Focus on having fun, learning the movements, and pushing yourself in a way that feels good for you!
What’s your go-to post-workout meal or snack?
Black iced coffee and a bagel sandwich!
How do you like to spend your time outside the studio?
I love spending time with friends and family. In the winter, I enjoy skiing, and in the summer you can find me paddleboarding or relaxing at the beach with a good book!
Which Sweat Fixx class challenges you the most personally—and why?
Row and HIIT classes! I love how they are fast-paced and keep you moving, plus they can bring out my competitive nature. I enjoy the combination of cardio and strength and always leave feeling accomplished!
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I played a year of club hockey in college, even though I had never played in my life!
What’s your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?
I’m a sucker for some good reality TV!
If you could only use one piece of equipment for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A kettlebell — it’s so versatile! 💪
