Meet Sophie Sweeney

Sweat Fixx Arlington is consistently rated as one of the top spots for group fitness in Arlington, and one of the biggest reasons why is our incredible team of instructors. Today, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on one of our boss ladies you’ll often see on the mic — Sophie Sweeney.

Sophie is a powerhouse instructor and an amazing mom who brings energy, intention, and heart to every class she teaches. Her workouts are always purposeful and well-planned, so you know you’ll leave feeling challenged, accomplished, and strong.

Beyond the studio floor, Sophie is the ultimate team player — always ready to jump in, sub classes, and support everyone around her. She embodies everything we love about the Sweat Fixx community, and we couldn’t imagine the Arlington studio without her.

How did your journey at Sweat Fixx start?

  • How long have you been at Sweat Fixx and what caused you to want to join the team? 2 years! I’ve always had a passion for fitness.  I’ve taken a lot of group fitness classes and thought, hey, maybe I could do that!  So when the opportunity presented itself, I forced myself out of my comfort zone to give it a shot and here I am 2 years later loving it! 
  • What your favorite class is to teach/take and why? ROW!  I love being able to give everyone individual attention during class.  Plus, it is a great combo of strength and cardio.
  • What’s one piece of advice you would give someone new who is trying out SF for the first time?  Don’t be intimidated, just come in and have fun!  Everyone will be at a different fitness levels with different fitness goals.   We’re here to help you where you are at while also pushing you to your goal(s). Sweat Fixx is such a welcoming and supportive community.

  • What’s your go-to post-workout meal or snack ? Anything w peanut butter
  • Which Sweat Fixx class challenges you the most personally—and why? Row.  I am not a natural rower but love the sense of accomplishment hitting those long rows/high meters. And it’s a great total body workout.
  • What’s your favorite motivational quote or mantra ? Fake it til you make it!
  • If you could design your dream Sweat Fixx workout, what would it look like? I would love to incorporate more heavy lifting, think heavy squats and deadlifts.  Ladies, do not be afraid to lift heavy!
  • How do you like to spend your time outside the studio? Even though my kids are a bit older, I love spending as much time with them as possible. 
  • What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?  I’ve run 3 marathons (Chicago 2x, Marine Corp). I’m “retired” now but never say never!
  • What’s your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?  Give me all of the bad reality TV, basically anything on Bravo.
  • Early bird or night owl?  Early bird.
  • What’s one fitness trend you secretly love?  Not sure if it is a “trend” but I love the emphasis on strength training for women.  
  • What’s one fitness trend you hope never comes back?  Cardio for hours.
  • If Sweat Fixx had superlatives, what would you win (most likely to…)?  Most likely to be having the most fun teaching class!
