Instructor Spotlight: Erin Cooley

Next up in our Instructor Spotlight series is Erin—aka the ultimate badass mom who somehow makes doing all the things look effortless.
She’s a full-time working mom of two, teaches some of our favorite strength classes in our Wakefield location, and still finds time to lead spin classes at another studio. Erin came to us with a powerhouse strength training background and years of teaching experience in the Boston fitness scene. When she made the move to the suburbs, we were beyond lucky to snag her for our team. She is constantly showing you what is possible when you put the work in.
Most recently, she absolutely dominated her first double HYROX with an incredible time of 1:12!
Let’s get to know Erin a little more…
- How long have you been at Sweat Fixx and what caused you to want to join the team? Almost 3 years! I had been teaching bootcamp classes in Boston for over 5 years, moved to the burbs with my family, and knew I needed to find a new fitness community. I talked to Elise who suggested I take a few classes, was completely humbled by how hard the rower was, energized by the SweatFixx community, and knew this place was a fit.
- What your favorite class is to teach/take and why? TRAIN is my current favorite class to teach and take. I love that the structure of the class is different every single time and pushes you to lift heavier for longer intervals. In this class structure, I love it when I see clients putting down weights/needing a break. That’s when you know they are making a change mentally and physically. It’s very empowering to take and teach a TRAIN class.
- What’s one piece of advice you would give someone new who is trying out SF for the first time? Take notice of the community in the space. SweatFixx is a place for everyone and that translates in the programming, the instuctors, and the clients.
Now let’s get into some rapid fire questions:
What’s one song that instantly gets you hyped during a workout Just one?! Whitney Houson, How Will I Know, Van Hooft Remix; Post Malone, See I Fall Apart, Alex Engstrom Mashup, and any country EDM remix.
What’s your go-to post-workout meal or snack? Normally I am running from class to something for my kids so I normally grab a banana or a That’s It bar.
Which Sweat Fixx class challenges you the most personally—and why? TRAIN. The longer segments with heavier weights are, chefs kiss.
How do you like to spend your time outside the studio? My husband and I have two young boys (7 and 4) and spend a lot of time on soccer fields, basketball courts, etc. I love seeing them be active and being able to play with and coach them is such a gift.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I have a few: 1. I was a Jr. Olympic gymnast 2. I absolutely love Bruce Springsteen 3. Always routing for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team
If you could only use one piece of equipment for the rest of your life, what would it be? Can I say dumbells? Then I can have any weight size I want/need!
Early bird or night owl? Easily early bird. My alarm goes off at 4:30 and I’m most often asleep by 9:00.
What’s one fitness trend you secretly love? Lately I have been loving my training for Hyrox. I love incorporating 400-800M runs into my workouts. I am definitely a HIIT junkie 🙂
If Sweat Fixx had superlatives, what would you win (most likely to…)? Always have a push up in my class.
